Season 6, Episode 4 - My House
January 4th, 2007
The women at Sacred Heart are facing new life changes. Elliot is off to start her new career in private practice, fortunately for her, her new office is just down the hall. Carla is not quite ready to leave the hospital after giving birth and Kim is deciding whether or not to take the research position in Tacoma for four months.
J.D. tries to be a super-devoted boyfriend in the hopes that Kim will miss him too much to leave. Instead, his support makes it easier for her to accept the job. J.D. tries to come up with a Plan B, but he can't think of one. He finally reveals that he doesn't really want her to go. But they get into an argument, which escalates. His resentment of her leaving emerges and he accuses Kim of doing what's best for her instead of what's best for their relationship. She leaves in a huff.
J.D. later realizes that he really does want to be supportive of her decision, so he tracks her down at the airport to patch things up.
Turk asks Dr. Cox to try and convince Carla to go home because staying in the hospital is becoming too expensive. Unbeknownst to Turk, Carla is exhibiting signs of postpartum depression. Elliot is upset that her closest friends and colleagues, J.D. and Turk haven't properly congratulated her on the new job.
J.D. is puzzled why his patient Sarah, a healthy young woman, has serious heart problems. But before her heart can give out, her kidneys start to fail. Channeling Dr. House from the TV series "House," Dr. Cox determines that she suffers from Takosobu Cardiomyopathy, aka "Broken Heart Syndrome," following the recent death of her husband. Another patient is turning orange from eating a combination of too many carrots and too much tomato juice.
