Episode 4 - My Lucky Night
October 30, 2003

Turk lets it slip to Sean (Scott Foley), that Elliot and J.D. have been sex buddies in the past. This is information that Elliot kept from Sean, so he's a little surprised. Sean then surprises Elliot with the news that he is going to Hawaii for six months to work on a research project. And to make things worse, Sean says he doesn't want to have a long distance relationship because they are much harder to maintain.

J.D. sees a glimmer of hope in getting back with Elliot when he overhears them saying their goodbyes. Realizing that she can't let Sean leave without telling him how she feels, Elliot rushes to meet his airport shuttle before it leaves. Sean doesn't see her at first, but then calls her on her cell phone after the bus driver closes the door on her. She tells him that they should give the long distance relationship a try. Doubtful, he isn't able to respond before the bus pulls away and out of sight.

Thinking that Sean has already left for his trip, J.D. decides to go for it and go tell Elliot how he feels. At her apartment, he is just about to tell her his feelings when Sean comes out from the bathroom. Sean changed his flight so he and Elliot could talk. Elliot is ecstatic because Sean has agreed to continue their relationship, despite the distance.

Carla covers for one of the surgical nurses, allowing her to work side by side with Turk for two days. Carla is excited, but Turk is horrified at the thought of having her work so closely to him. She uses her pet names for him when handing him a scalpel and she reveals to Todd and Dr. Wen that Turk gets his chest waxed, humiliating Turk in the process.

Dr. Kelso plans to hire Dr. Steadman (Matt Winston) as the Residency Director, but things change after Dr. Cox decides to go for the position as well. In between interviewing nannies, Cox tells Jordan about his plans to apply for the position. Since she is on the board of directors, she offers to help campaign for him. At first he declines her offer, but then accepts when it looks like Dr. Kelso will appoint Dr. Steadman. Dr. Kelso vehemently opposes Cox getting the job, but the board members side with Jordan.
